White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire
After a week of torrential rain, the Swift River certainly lived up to its name. Overcast skies gave me the soft, even light I was chasing, and I set up my tripod overlooking the rushing water. I chose a spot where the river’s patterns were strongest, the colors richest, and the flow at its peak.
Using a long exposure, I captured the energy and movement of the scene — transforming the roaring current into a smooth, graceful rhythm. Every time I look at this image, I can still hear the sound of the cascades and smell the wet leaves of autumn drifting through the air.
