I’ll never forget my feelings of awe and reverence, perched on this precipitous cliff, the land falling away from me on both sides, and the surf pounding the rocks far below me. I felt I was in limbo on the edge of the world with the ocean stretched out forever before me, and the land stretched out endlessly behind me. The stoic lighthouse guards his flock beneath him, and the hand of Mother Nature decorates the horizon with her illumination.
